This week’s peak performer: Tori Herzberg, F-FC
During the opening week of softball season, Tori Herzberg put on a show more suited for the postseason.
The Fountain-Fort Carson junior was unhittable, coming within a fielding error of throwing two perfect games.
After not allowing a baserunner Tuesday in a 24-0 three-inning victory over Wasson, Herzberg no-hit Metro League rival Mesa Ridge on Thursday as the Trojans eked out a 1-0 win.
“It was really amazing to pitch so well and have my teammates there to support me,” said Herzberg, who struck out 16 in the two wins.
Herzberg, who also recorded four hits and four runs, credited coach Ron Wilson for helping her during the offseason.
