Three home runs is a good week for the Sky Sox. On Saturday it wasn’t even good enough for a win.

With its power obscured by seven walks, four wild pitches, a balk and a hit batter, Colorado Springs opened its final regular season homestand with a 6-5 loss to Reno.

Recently demoted centerfielder Chris Young led Reno with three hits and a pair of stolen bases. Young walked and scored in a three-run fifth inning.

The Sky Sox came back on a controversial Eric Young Jr. RBI triple and a solo home run from Matt Miller, but an error led to the decisive run for Reno in the seventh.

Jonathan Herrera and Matt Murton also homered for the Sky Sox, who have the Pacific Coast League’s second highest run total despite out-homering just one team. Murton’s two-run shot tied him with Carlos Gonzalez for the team lead with 10, and Gonzalez hasn’t been with the Sky Sox since early June.

Eric Byrnes, a Rockies nemesis since derogatory comments during the 2007 run to the World Series, heard boos during every at bat. He went 0-for-4 and was hit by a pitch.

The controversy of the day — which led to the ejection of reliever Scott Dohmann as he sat in the bullpen — came on Young’s triple to left field, which Reno argued Byrnes caught in the corner before the wall jarred the ball loose. Manager Brett Butler argued the play even after the final out was recorded.
