The health care reform debate comes to the region today when U.S. Rep. Doug Lamborn holds a town hall meeting at City Hall in Woodland Park. The meeting is scheduled for 4:30 to 5:30 at City Hall, 220 W. South Avenue.

Lamborn opposes the government-run “public option” health insurance plan proposed (and possibly now being withdrawn) by the Obama administration, so presumably he won’t be targeted by folks who are angry about the proposal. But a group that supports the “public option” has said it will attend the Lamborn meeting.

The same group is also organizing visits to the local offices of U.S. Sens. Michael Bennet and Mark Udall. They’re planning to gather at Bennet’s office at 409 N. Tejon St. at 10:30 am. and at Udall’s office in the Regional Building Department headquarters, 2880 International Circle, at about 11:45 a.m.

Lamborn has scheduled two other town hall meetings, Tuesday in Cañon City, at the Cañon City City Hall, 4:30-5:30 pm., and Aug. 27 at the Valley Hi golf course, 610 S. Chelton Road, from 7-8:30 p.m.
