Ovarian cancer foundation hosts run/walk fundraiser

The Sue DiNapoli Ovarian Cancer Foundation, a local nonprofit, is holding a 5k run and 3k walk fundraiser August 8.

The event, in America the Beautiful Park in downtown Colorado Springs, begins at 7:30 a.m. Rigstration is $22 in advance (through Active.com) or $25 the day of the event. Registrants who sign up by July 30 will receive T-shirts.

Participants will be eligible for drawings that include gift certificates from local retailers.

The foundation was formed in honor of DiNapoli, who lived in El Paso County from 1979 until dying of ovarian cancer on Aug. 5, 2005. Money raised goes to help low-income and under-insured women in the Pikes Peak region with screening and early detection, according to a news release.

For more information call Laura Ayotte, foundation president, at 209-4288 or send an e-mail BeOvaryAware@comcast.net
