Carlos Gonzalez might have liked Colorado Springs, but he doesn’t plan on coming back.

The Sky Sox outfielder, who leads the minor leagues with 59 RBIs, was promoted to the Colorado Rockies after Thursday’s 16-8 victory at Security Service Field.

Outfielder Matt Murton will rejoin the Sky Sox after being in the big leagues since April 29.

Reliever Matt Daley also was recalled by the Rockies after a four-day rehab stint. He made two appearances with the Sky Sox, allowing one hit while striking out four and walking none in two innings.

Rockies catcher Chris Iannetta, on rehab through the weekend, had two hits and two RBIs to help lead the Sky Sox to the blowout win.

Kenny Perez had four hits and three RBIs while Matt Miller and Chris Frey both had three hits and three RBIs.

Still, it was Gonzalez that drew postgame attention and congratulatory hugs from teammates.

“The manager (Stu Cole) said he hopes I stay there a long time,” said Gonzalez, who had a single and run scored in the fifth when the Sky Sox rallied from a 5-3 deficit. “He wants to be promoted too and said he hopes the next time he sees me it’s in the big leagues.

“I know I don’t want to be back here.”

Gonzalez, 23, was rated the No. 1 prospect in the Diamondbacks’ organization but was involved in a trade for A’s starting pitcher Dan Haren. He then was swapped from the A’s to the Rockies in the Matt Holliday deal last offseason.

In 48 games with the Sky Sox, Gonzalez hit .339 with 10 homers.

“I’m really proud of the way I’m playing,” said Gonzalez, a native of Venezuela. “I just want to take the same game plan that has worked here and use it up there.”

He’ll fly to St. Louis this morning to join Colorado.

“He’s on pace for about 150 RBIs,” teammate Kenny Perez said incredulously. “He’s a hitter. It’s a light show when he goes up. Missiles come off his bat.”

According to the Denver Post, Rockies interim manager Jim Tracy promised that Gonzalez would see playing time.

“We are not bringing him in to be a part-time player, I can tell you that,” Tracy said. “And we’ll leave it at that.”Gonzalez had a single and run scored in the fifth when the Sky Sox rallied from a 5-3 deficit. Iannetta had the game-tying RBI single and Perez followed with a two-run triple to right field that was lost in the lights. Perez had an RBI single on a chopper to third in the five-run eighth that was also lost in the lights.

“The baseball gods are out there,” Perez said with a smile. “It’s frustrating to hit line drives right at guys so it all evens out. They brought me here to help out off the bench, to help the starters and it’s satisfying to come through when I get a chance.”

The Sky Sox (32-21) have scored at least 12 runs in four of their last seven games. They have double-digit hits in seven of the last eight.

Christian Colonel slugged his third home run of the season – and second as a pinch-hitter, the only two by the Sky Sox – leading off the sixth on the first pitch after his foul pop-up was dropped for an error by Fresno first baseman Jesus Guzman.

Sky Sox reliever Ben Julianel even helped the offense with an RBI double in the eighth, although the lefty’s hot shot down the left-field line came against Jake Wald, a Fresno infielder who pitched for the final two outs.
