Frankly, my dear, Springs actors are the best kissers

She slapped him. His mustache came off.

It added to the drama of a steamy kiss by the Colorado Springs pair who won Friday’s Netflix Greatest Kiss Challenge in New York City.

Lacey Maynard and Kaleb Kohart got a perfect score and a romantic trip to Las Vegas in the Valentine’s Day kiss-off.

Not bad, considering they aren’t a couple in real life.

Their “Gone with the Wind” kiss squared off against “Titanic” and “Back to the Future” kisses by duos who really are kissing couples.

“I couldn’t believe we won; they seemed like obvious favorites,” said Kohart, a 31-year-old motion graphic designer. “They’d been going out for a while and we are a couple of improv actors who happened to do a scene together.”

Not only that, they are in rival Springs comedy troupes. She has a boyfriend and he, a girlfriend.

“We practiced quite a bit. We made it look convincing,” said Maynard, 30, a medical receptionist at Barrick Family Practice. “We created it all in front of a whole bunch of people in Grand Central Station.”

Before the event, they did their kiss live on Friday’s “Today Show.”

Netflix dressed contestants in garb for the kiss-off. Maynard and Kohart added some spins, such as using double-stick tape above her mouth so his mustache would come off and affix to her lips.

“They stole the show because of their strong performance,” Netflix spokeswoman Catherine Fisher said. “They had such great chemistry on stage. They received a (top) score of five from all three judges.”

The three finalist couples were chosen from about 400 famous movie kiss re-creations submitted online.

The local improv troupes – she’s with Stick Horses in Pants and he’s with The RiP – joined forces to enter about 15 clips for the contest. Maynard and Kohart were paired up by their unique talents for the Rhett Butler-Scarlett O’Hara display of affection.

“He is the one who most resembled Clark Gable,” she said. “I don’t look like Vivien Leigh, but I love slapping people around. I have a pretty good stage slap.”Kissing goes with the turf in acting.

“It was a little awkward. He was talking in a swarthy voice, and I had to get over some giggles at first,” she said.

“I’ve done it so many times in various stage shows, I didn’t think it would be a big deal,” he said. “When I had to kiss her on national TV in front of millions of people, I was so nervous, I barely held it together.”
