Fantasy Football: He Said, She Said – October 29

MATT WILEY’S PICKSQuarterbackDavid Garrard, JaguarsHas returned to his form of last season of not throwing interceptions. He has gone four games without a pick and he will look to improve on his statistics this week against the Bengals. Garrard has passed for over 275 yards the past two weeks.

Running backTim Hightower, CardinalsSooner or later Arizona has to realize Edgerrin James should be Hightower’s backup. The Cardinals are playing a Rams defense that was gashed by the Patriots’ running game last week so Hightower, who has six touchdowns, could get a touchdown this week and is a good player down the road.

ReceiverTorry Holt, RamsWith rookie Donnie Avery having two huge games in a row, defenses are going to start having to plan for the rookie speedster. This will help Holt’s value. He can use his great skills to find holes in the defense and get a lot of receptions.

SleeperBrandon Lloyd, BearsHe hasn’t played in a few weeks because of injury, but offensive players always seem to heal faster when they are facing Detroit. Lloyd practiced in a limited role on Monday and could be a solid player going forward now that the Bears suddenly can pass the ball.

AvoidSteve Slaton, TexansRushing yards are always hard to get when facing the Vikings and Slaten has not been catching as many passes lately. After having 15 catches in the first three games, Slaton only has seven receptions in the past four contests.

ANGIE DISALVO’S PICKSQuarterbackMatt Ryan, FalconsThe rookie has steadily improved and his 277 yards and two touchdowns last week against Philadelphia showed that he can hang in against good defenses. This week’s opponent, Oakland, does not have a good defense. The Raiders are allowing 281.4 passing yards per game (19th in the league).

Running backRonnie Brown, DolphinsThe past three weeks, the Dolphins have faced three teams with run defenses ranked in the top 16 in the league and Brown has been held to just 120 yards and one touchdown. But this week he faces a terrible Broncos defense (30th).

ReceiverKevin Walter, TexansAndre Johnson leads Houston in receptions and yards but Walter has the most touchdown catches (five). That makes him a great No. 2 receiver option, especially this week against Minnesota (20th in pass defense).

SleeperEddie Royal, BroncosThe rookie had a great debut but has sputtered a bit. But he showed he’s back from injury last week against New England (nine catches for 71 yards), and Denver hosts a Miami defense that is 25th against the pass. The Broncos‘ defense is even worse (28th), so expect a shootout.

AvoidDwayne Bowe, ChiefsBesides tight end Tony Gonzalez, Bowe has been the only consistent Kansas City fantasy choice. But the Chiefs host a Tampa Bay defense ranked seventh against the pass. And Tyler Thigpen is the Chiefs’ quarterback. Enough said.
