Nearly 200 Fort Carson soldiers are scheduled to arrive back home Thursday after a year at war in Afghanistan.

The homecoming marks the second such ceremony this year for the 2nd Brigade Combat Team of the 4th Infantry Division, which deployed in May and June of 2011, according to a Fort Carson news release.

About 500 of the brigade’s soldiers returned in December. Another 70 returned earlier this month.

The rest of the brigade is slated to return over the next several weeks.

The soldiers scheduled to arrive Thursday spent the year conducting humanitarian aid projects and training the Afghan National Army and the Afghan Uniformed Police in the western Afghan province of Heart, Fort Carson said.
