Patton ignores controversy, says it’s business as usual
Army officials are investigating a shooting after a traffic crash late Wednesday night on Fort Carson.
The crash happened at about 10:30 p.m. when a person lost control of a vehicle, sending it careening into a house on post, according to a Fort Carson statement.
A person in the house allegedly confronted the driver after the crash and fired three shots from “a personally owned weapon” — hitting himself once and the driver twice, Fort Carson officials said.
The shooter and the driver were taken to Memorial Hospital, along with a person who was inside the house during the collision. They were listed in fair condition on Thursday afternoon.
Fort Carson officials declined to release further details of the incident — including the names of the shooter and the driver — because it remains under investigation.
