Colorado Springs boasts some of the most spectacular city parks in the nation!  The city of Colorado Springs web site is a great place to begin exploring the numerous parks in the area AND the miles of paved and gravel bike trails that run the length and width of the city!  Here are some articles about the various parks and some photo galleries!   You can sample the parks without ever leaving home!

North Cheyenne Canyon Park

Enter North Cheyenne Canyon Park, and you suddenly feel as though you were miles away from the city! The park begins at the Starsmore Discovery Center and winds up through Cheyenne Canyon with hiking trails and picnic areas interspersed. Several trailheads are along the road (The Columbine trail is the longest in the park, with a mild grade and several entry points from the road.)

Garden of the Gods

Garden of the Gods is perhaps the most beautiful city park in the United States. No other city can boast such a unique park in such a stunning setting!  The easiest access to Garden of the Gods is to head north on I-25 from Fort Carson, and then exit at “Garden of the Gods” Rd. Palmer Park

Though not as dramatic as Garden of the Gods, Palmer Park is marked by magnificent sandstone rock formations. Palmer Park is made up of a plateau laced with terrific hiking and mountain-biking trails. Along with Garden of the Gods, Palmer Park helps to give the city its reputation for outstanding city parks.

Red Rocks Open Space

The Red Rocks Open Space is one of the newer additions to the parks system of Colorado Springs. The area is located on Highway 24 (Cimarron Blvd.) on the way to Manitou Springs. The open space features a large area for walking dogs as well as paths at various levels –through gullies, meandering along a plateau, tucked away by a lake.

America the Beautiful Park

Located at 126 Cimino Drive (just off Colorado Blvd. and I-25), it is a perfect place for families to enjoy an afternoon!. The 20+ acre park is along the Pikes Peak Greenway Trail that runs along Monument Creek.
