Cyclist is quick study on the track
A Fort Carson soldier was arrested Thursday on charges of sexual assault, domestic violence and child endangerment.
John Allen Dupree, 27, is being held in the Fremont County Detention Center on a $50,000 bond for allegedly assaulting his girlfriend twice Nov. 23 at her parent’s house in Fremont County, said Capt. Don Pinover with the Fremont County Sheriff’s Office.
During one of the assaults, Dupree allegedly endangered the couple’s child as the girlfriend attempted to change their son’s diaper, Pinover said.
“The suspect was grabbing at the female, and there was a little bit of a struggle,” Pinover said. “She was afraid if she let go of the child, it might fall on the floor.
“Any time there’s a domestic dispute that takes place, if there are children in the home, if they can hear or see the argument or fight, that constitutes child abuse.”
The girlfriend reported the alleged assaults to Fort Carson officials, who referred her to the sheriff’s office.
Dupree was arrested Thursday on Fort Carson and picked up by sheriff’s deputies.
He is expected in court early next week.
