Mayor Steve Bach presented the Spirit of the Springs Award to Colonel Martin France on Tuesday, November 20th, for leading immediate and ongoing recovery efforts following the Waldo Canyon Fire. Colonel France organized over 250 Air Force Academy cadets to support the neighbors with mitigation work in Mountain Shadows as well as Blodgett Peak. They assisted most of the 200 homes and removed 86 tons of fuel from the neighborhood.
