Pikes Peak Community College and the University of Colorado at Colorado Springs have both been named as military-friendly school for the fourth consecutive year.The list, by G.I. Jobs and Victory Media, honors the nation’s top 15 percent of colleges, universities and trade schools doing the most to embrace America’s military service members, veterans, and spouses as students and ensure their success on campus.About 20 percent of PPCC students are veterans or active-duty military.“PPCC has a long and successful history of serving active duty military, veterans and their family members,” said Cheri Arfsten, director of military and veterans programs at PPCC.A Veteran Resource Center was recently opened at UCCS to focus on programs and scholarships for current and former members of the military.Now in its fourth year, the 2013 list was compiled through extensive research and a data-driven survey of more than 12,000 VA-approved schools nationwide.
