Six more Air Force Academy cadets plan to be commissioned as second lieutenants in the Air Force on Friday

Lt. Gen. Mike Gould, the academy’s superintendent, will hand out diplomas at the graduation ceremony, which comes at the end of the academy’s summer session.

Two of the cadets will head to pilot training while another two will enter the emerging field of cyberspace operations, according to the academy. The other two will become contracting officers.

The cadets graduating on Friday were granted their diplomas on a case by case basis after needing additional time to meet the academy’s requirements. The ceremony brings the number of Air Force Academy cadets to who have received their diplomas from the academy to 45,014 since the academy opened in 1959.
