Independence, connection and quality of life | Golden Bridge Network

As Teller County’s older adult population continues to grow, the Teller Senior Coalition plays a critical role in helping seniors maintain independence, connection and quality of life. Through a wide range of programs and services, the coalition is working to meet the evolving needs of older adults in the community.

Located in Divide, the Teller Senior Coalition provides essential support services designed to help older adults live safely and comfortably in their own homes. These services include case management, homemaker assistance, transportation, respite care and referrals to critical resources such as housing and healthcare. In 2025, we provided 12,521 rides, served 957 clients and delivered 28,744 services. Currently we have 14 vehicles, 12 drivers and 3 volunteer drivers.

“Our goal is to ensure seniors in Teller County are not only cared for, but truly supported in living independent, fulfilling lives,” said Tracie Ashley, Senior Case Manager. “We recognize that each person has unique needs, and we strive to meet them with compassion and respect.”

One of the organization’s key priorities is reducing social isolation among seniors. Through wellness programs, social activities, and community outreach, the Coalition fosters meaningful connections that contribute to both emotional and physical well-being.

In addition, the Coalition collaborates with local and regional partners to address broader challenges facing older adults, including housing affordability, access to healthcare, and transportation barriers—issues that are especially impactful in rural communities like Teller County.

The Teller Senior Coalition also plays an important role in administering programs supported by the Older Americans Act, ensuring that eligible residents receive the services they need to remain independent for as long as possible.

Community members are encouraged to get involved, whether by volunteering, donating, or simply helping spread awareness about available services. As the demand for senior services continues to increase, community support remains essential.

The Teller Senior Coalition is part of the Golden Bridge Network, a group of organizations in Teller County that works together to fully support the needs of older adults in our community. This group ensure older adults have access to all available resources, which we know improves their quality of life.

Union was preserved at Newburgh | From the Editor

The man who has been called the “father of his country” was certainly that. He led the successful rebellion. He was president of the Constitutional Convention in 1787, which rewrote the Articles of Confederation and produced the World’s best and most enduring foundational document for a nation. After being unanimously elected as country’s first president, […]

The joy of little free libraries | From my Perspective

I’m rarely without a book wherever I go. I read in the car and on planes. When I head to the DMV, I anticipate the wait in line and I bring my book along. In the evening, I’m often seen by neighbors on our front porch with my kindle and water bottle. I’ve always loved […]
