Palmer Ridge advances to semifinals

The top-seeded Palmer Ridge girls soccer team advanced to the quarterfinals of the CHSAA Class 4A State Tournament.

The Bears blanked No. 32-seed Thomas Jefferson 2-0 in the first round. Paalmer Rodge’s second-round match against No. 17 Mead ended in a scoreless draw. The Bears won the shootout 3-2 to qualify for the quarterfinals.

The championship game will be played on may 19.

Sadie Williams and Lilli Hawkins scored for the Bears in the playoff opener against Thomas Jefferson. It was Williams’ fifth goal of the season and Hawkins’ 17th

Reece Mabe, Teagan Porterfield and Lexi Brennan had assists.
