Through its Micro-Grant Program, the Woodland Park Downtown Development Authority (DDA) is helping turn small-scale improvements into meaningful, visible change across the city’s core.

Originally offered in 2023 as the Signature Events Micro-Grant program, the program is back for its third year and represents a modern evolution of Woodland Park’s downtown revitalization strategy. In 2025, the DDA reformatted the program, shifting its focus from local events to supporting downtown business investment and beautification within the DDA’s district. With 33 grants awarded in 2025, the program’s reach grew, and improvements were prominent throughout downtown.

A relaunch—And a signal of commitment

The 2026 Micro-Grant Program prioritizes projects that stimulate economic vitality and enhance public experience. Eligible projects include but are not limited to:

● Aesthetic & design upgrades: Utilizing high-quality materials for façade improvements, modern signage, and architectural lighting.

● Public safety & accessibility: Enhancing building security, improving lighting for pedestrians, and ensuring building code compliance.

● Public realm enhancements: Adding “streetscape” value through professional landscaping, outdoor seating, and other pedestrian-friendly features.

● Economic vitality: Projects that demonstrably further the DDA’s objectives of making the district a premier destination for residents and visitors alike.

Additional key changes to the already successful program for 2026 include:

● The 2026 program also allows homeowners within the boundary to apply!

● Increased funding: The DDA has increased its level of support and total available project funding up to $200,000.

Supporting a Broader Economic Vision

As a Main Street America™ Coordinating Program, Colorado Main Street helps lead a powerful, grassroots network of over 40 coordinating programs and over 1,200 neighborhoods and communities across the country, committed to creating high-quality places and building stronger communities through preservation-based economic development. Woodland Park’s designation as a Colorado Main Street community reflects its ongoing commitment to downtown revitalization, historic preservation, and economic development. In a city where tourism, local business, and quality of life are closely intertwined, these incremental improvements contribute to a larger narrative: a downtown that continues to evolve while maintaining its character. Through the collaborative efforts of city staff and a volunteer board, the Woodland Park Main Street program has excitedly supported the DDA’s Micro-Grant initiative, encouraging eligible business owners and residents to apply.

How to Apply: What Applicants Need to Know

The DDA Micro-Grant Program is designed to be straightforward, but preparation is key. Businesses and homeowners are encouraged to review requirements early and ensure all materials are ready before submitting.

Step 1: Confirm Eligibility

Before applying, applicants should verify that:

● The business is located within the Downtown Development Authority (DDA) boundary

● The applicant is the property owner or has written authorization from the property owner

● The proposed project is customer-facing and aligns with the DDA’s program goals

Step 2: Define the Project

Successful applications clearly outline a project that enhances the downtown experience. Projects should be specific, measurable, and focused on visible improvements to the property, aligning with one of the following categories:

● Aesthetic & Design Upgrades

● Public Safety & Accessibility

● Public Realm Enhancements

● Economic Vitality

Step 3: Prepare Required Materials

Applicants should be ready to submit:

● A completed application form (submitted through the City’s online portal)

● A detailed project description and scope of work, including photos of the project space

● Cost estimates or contractor quotes – projects must receive approval before beginning!

● Property owner authorization documentation, if applicable

Step 4: Complete the Project

If selected for funding, applicants will:

● Retain receipts and quotes for work within the scope of the project

● Complete the project within the designated timeframe

● Follow all applicable permitting and code requirements

● Maintain communication with City staff as needed

Applications will be accepted during the program window, which began on March 6, and has an extended deadline of 5:00 p.m. on June 1, 2026. Applications will be reviewed and grants awarded on a rolling basis. Grant funds are distributed on a reimbursement basis. Final reports are due by Oct. 30.
