Colorado’s first ‘clear-floor’ gondola is open for business – but you won’t find it at a ski resort.

Suspended about 1,200 feet above the canyon floor, the clear floors of the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park gondola are designed to give riders an unmatched panoramic viewing experience. As of February 28, two gondola carriages now feature see-thru flooring, allowing guests to stare straight down at the Arkansas River below. Experiencing the thrill of this riding option comes at no additional cost, too.

“This enhancement gives our guests a completely new way to experience the Royal Gorge,” said Fred Toney, Vice President at Royal Gorge Bridge & Park. “Whether it’s your first visit or your tenth, the clear-floor gondola will deliver a moment of awe that truly changes how you’ll see the Gorge.”

The gondola ride across the Royal Gorge is one of the Cañon City-area destination’s top attractions, with many guests opting to first walk the bridge across the canyon and then hop on the gondola for a seated trip back to the other side. The gondola was installed in 2013 and travels 2,200 feet across the gorge as one of the longest single-span gondolas in the country. The recent flooring update is undoubtedly one that guests who lack a fear of heights are sure to enjoy.

Among other attractions at the Royal Gorge Bridge and Park are the via ferrata, the Royal Rush Skycoaster – a large swing that dips riders over the canyon’s edge, and the ‘Cloudscraper Zipline,’ which travels above the canyon.
