Pearl’s Follies event brings in needed funds for foundation repair
Pearl’s Follies attendees frolicked into the night of March 7 at their 27th annual fundraiser benefitting the Old Homestead Parlour House and Museum.
The event was held at the Chamonix Hotel and Casino Grande Salon Ballroom with over 250 people attending.
Pearl’s Follies celebrates the life of Madam Pearl DeVere, raising funds for the country’s very first brothel museum for ongoing historic preservation efforts and operating costs. This year’s focus is a $7,500 repair of the museum building’s crumbling rock pillar foundation which is 120 years old this year. The parlor house was built in 1896, following two devastating fires that burned Cripple Creek to the ground.
Board President Kirstie Baumgarner addressed the attendees, thanking them for their support adding, “It really does take a village to keep this Old Homestead going.”
Longtime supporter Larry Clark conducted a live auction and D.J. Jim Stroman acted as M.C., later playing dance music into the evening.
This year’s sponsors included: City of Cripple Creek Historic Preservation Commission, Maudies Emporium, Evergreen Station, Dirty Deeds Dirtwork Excavation, 2 Mile High Club, Teller Tire, Rawson Roofing, and Larimer Landworks.
