Assessor talk
The Teller County Assessor’s Office invites the public to attend two upcoming informational meetings focused on property taxes and available exemptions in Teller County.
Topics will include how property taxes are calculated in Teller County, along with information about the Senior Homestead Exemption and Disabled Veteran Exemption. Attendees will also have the opportunity to ask questions during an open forum discussion.
The first meeting will be on March 11 at the Centennial Building in Cripple Creek. The second will be on March 12 in Woodland Park at the Ute Pass Cultural Center.
Golf meeting
A community meeting will be held concerning Shining Mountain Golf Course on March 17. The meeting will be at the Ute Pass Cultural Center from 5:30 – 7 p.m.
“We want to hear from community members on how to provide the best experience possible,” Woodland Park said on its Facebook page. “Come to the community meeting so the city can share updates and hear ideas for the future.”
Documentary released
The Teller County Sheriff’s Office has released a documentary about the Teller County Cares Food Initiative; an initiative the resilience of our food aid providers and the caring of the residents of Teller County and the surrounding areas made successful.
November 2025 was a time when Teller County shined brightly in coming together when SNAP benefits failed. This documentary is intended to be a Thank You to the residents, businesses and organizations of Teller County and the surrounding areas for their participation in the Teller County Cares Food Initiative.

Wildfire classes
Wildfire prevention classes have been scheduled. Make your reservations at donmoore@nofloco.org 719-839-0860.
“Tools for Fire Mitigation on Private Property” will be held on March 14 at 10 a.m. at the Woodland Park library. The class will explain how to get started on improving forested private property without wasting money on unnecessary gear, and what tools are truly worth investing in.
“What You Can Do Now to Save Your Trees From Mountain Pine Beetle” will be held on March 16 at 6 p.m. at the Woodland Park library. Learn the beetle lifecycle, when to take action and when beetles are actively seeking trees.
