The Woodland Park High School hockey team’s winter season was brought to an end with a 4-3 loss to Rampart. Quinline Murray scored two goals for the Panthers and Bryce Trayfoot secured another. The game was intense with the Rams stealing the win away from the Panthers in the last seconds.

The team’s seniors are Aidan Graham, Evan Snyder, Eben Thorpe and Sterling Gum. With the season ending, these players said their final goodbyes to hockey as they move on to the next stages of their lives.

“I’ve been with Woodland Park since I was 7 and have played with the high school for the last 4 years, so it’s kinda surreal that it’s all ending.” said Graham. “We’ve had plenty of ups and downs and I’m sad to go but the program is in good hands with the boys coming up. Even though I’m leaving I’ll always remember being a panther, hockey has made me who I am”.

Wrestling

Woodland Park hosted the wrestling Tri Peaks League tournament at the high school last week and is moving on to regionals in Denver at Ball Arena. Eight wrestlers across two teams from Woodland Park were named all-conference.

Boy’s Basketball

The Panthers suffered a defeat during its home game against CSCS (77-34). Junior Kael Acree made two 3-pointers and scored eight points during the game.

Girl’s Swim

The Woodland Park swim team went to state this weekend to finish its season. Senior Sonia Kettler participated in 200 medley relay and butterfly.

“Being able to race in the state meet is such an incredible experience, the whole team is hyped up to do our very best,” Kettler said. “Especially the seniors who swam our last race today.”
