Monument Warriors’ Holiday Music Night returns

The Monument Warriors are bringing back an inclusive evening of music and community this holiday season with their Christmas Festival of Lessons and Carols at Trinity Lutheran Church on Dec. 14 at 5 p.m.

Hosted at Trinity’s campus on Knollwood Drive, the program will include the Warriors and Friends Choir — a mix of youth, adults and Special Olympics athletes — leading a blend of traditional carols and seasonal readings. Organizers describe it as a reflective, family-friendly way to kick off the holidays, with a focus on shared music, storytelling and time together.

The event builds on a growing partnership between Trinity Lutheran and the Monument Warriors, and ties into the church’s broader push to make its campus a welcome space for everyone. That effort includes Trinity Community Park, a continually growing accessible playground and gathering space designed for residents of all ages and abilities. The Lessons and Carols service has become another way to share that same community spirit, bringing people together indoors for an evening of music and connection.

Last year’s program ended with a live manger tableau staged by Warrior athletes, a moment organizers say drew some of the night’s biggest smiles and applause from families, volunteers and guests. They’re planning a similar visual highlight again this year, with athletes taking prominent roles throughout the service.

Admission is free. Donations are accepted, with all proceeds going directly to the Monument Warriors program of Special Olympics Colorado to help pay for uniforms, facility use and athlete events.

The service will be held at Trinity Lutheran Church, 17750 Knollwood Drive in Monument. For more information about the event, contact Monument Warriors representative Lisa Glen at monumentwarriors@gmail.com or Tamara Schwarz at tamara@trinitymonument.org or 719-351-0179.
