Fire knocked down Friday night
Just before 4 p.m., Friday, Nov. 14, nearly 40 firefighters responded to a fire at Mile Marker 276 on CO 24. The fire was moving toward the Highland Lakes area and prompted an evacuation order a half mile north of Hwy 24 between Cougar Canyon Point and Lower Twin Rocks Road (Teller CR 42).
Firefighters were able to hold the fire to under five acres and crews spent four hours on the scene. CO 24 from Twin Rocks Road to Teller County Road 1 in Florissant was closed for a while due to the number of Fire Department, law enforcement, and US Forest Service vehicles.
The fire in under investigation.
