Winter Day in the Park

Welcome the holiday season with Woodland Park Parks and Recreation at Memorial Park on Dec. 5.

“Join us as the park transforms into a winter wonderland filled with holiday cheer, twinkling lights, official City tree lighting and all the magic of the season,” an announcement said. “We’ll have festive activities, warm drinks, sweet treats and plenty of memory-making moments. Bring the whole family (and your sense of wonder!) for an afternoon of fun, smiles, and small-town sparkle.”

Holiday market

The Ute Pass Cultural Center will be the site of the Annual Farmers Market Holiday Market on Nov. 22 from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.

Artists Sunday

Nov. 30 will be Artists Sunday at the Ute Pass Cultural Center.

You can celebrate the arts from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. as artists demonstrate their work at this annual “pop-up art gallery.” The event is also a fundraiser for the Rampart Library District Foundation. Attendance is free.

Run for city council?

Woodland Park will have a city council candidacy information session on Dec. 3 from 5:30-7 p.m. at council chambers.

This opportunity is open to anyone considering a run for City Council in 2026, as well as to those who are casually curious and seeking additional support and information. This is your chance to get all the details you need to throw your hat into the ring next Spring.

Community Advocate Award

Ent Credit Union is now accepting nominations for its 2025 Ent Community Advocate Award, which honors Coloradans who go above and beyond to make a lasting impact in their communities. Launched in 2022, the award celebrates individuals whose selfless service and dedication help build stronger, more resilient communities across the state.

The 2025 award includes up to $50,000, which will be granted to one winner or shared among multiple honorees. Ent encourages nominations that highlight meaningful contributions to charitable causes, community projects, events, and other efforts that uplift others. Nominations are open from through Dec. 15. Winners will be announced by Jan. 31.

Watch for wildlife

November is the peak rutting season for many types of Colorado wildlife and the peak month for wildlife crashes across the state. Last year, there were 530 wildlife crashes in November.

Two of the most essential things a motorist can do are to drive the speed limit and use their high beams when not around other motorists in rural areas or neighborhoods adjacent to open space areas. Increase your chances of seeing wildlife crossing up ahead or on the side of the road by staying alert. You can give yourself the time to adjust your speed or stop if no one is behind you.
