Unions win, kids lose

Congratulations to the Three G’s. Having watched the WPSD soap opera for 17 years, here’s my plot spoiler for the next few years. The Three G Board members who eschewed “politics” while campaigning will become storm troopers for the National Education Association (NEA) and American Federation of Teachers (AFT). Remember, until recently, the President of the AFT had a seat on the Democratic National Committee.

Expect WPSD teachers to be asked to advance Democratic Party talking points to students and parents. City Council and the WPSD will increase financial and legal pressure to dissolve Merit Academy; taxpayer-funded competition is terribly inconvenient. CSCS and Home School student enrollment will continue to increase, WPSD enrollment and academic performance will decline. City Council will magically regain interest in an education sales tax to give to their political allies now controlling the WPSD. The NEA and AFT want their K-12 monopoly back. Please remind me why monopolies are a good thing?
