Boys’ soccer

The Panthers have opened the season with wins over Pueblo Central (5-1) and Harrison (4-3).

Jamie Urban had three goals against Harrison, while Tevin James had a goal. Barret Absher had two assists. Freshman Goalie Liam Rawsom allowed three goals but had 13 saves.

Against Pueblo Central, Noah Williams scored twice, while James, Absher and William Wiley each scored once. Urban had three assists in the game.

The Panthers went 13-2-3 last year.

Football

Woodland Park improved to 2-0 on the season with a 27-20 road win against Salida on Sept. 5.

Featured Local Savings

Salida had a chance to tie the game when it recovered a fumble at its own 43-yard line with about 3 minutes remaining. Woodland Park forced a turnover on downs to end the threat.

Volleyball

The Panthers notched their first win of the season with a 3-1 win over Skyview Academy. Woodland Park ended the week with a loss to Elizabeth, dropping its record to 1-5.

Softball

The Panthers halted a season-opening skid with a 24-14 win over Sierra on Sept. 2. Woodland Park is now 1-6 on the season.

Paige Haugen went 4 for 6 with five RBIs in the win. Haugen leads the team in hitting with a .528 mark (10 for 19).
