Now that the crisis has passed and residents are in recovery mode after the three-day snowstorm in March, the Teller County Office of Emergency Management is conducting a preliminary assessment of damages.
“We urge members of our community to report any damages or losses to residential homes and outbuildings, businesses, and agricultural livestock or products, as a result of the storm, by visiting our website at www.tellercounty.gov/March-2024-Snow-Information-Resources or scanning the QR code and completing the appropriate forms,” said Jay Teague, director of the OEM.
For those without internet access, contact the OEM recovery line at 719-686-7998 and leave a message.
By the second day of the storm that left 40 inches of snow in some areas, Teller County commissioners and officials from the cities of Cripple Creek and Victor declared a state of emergency on the second day.
“The resolution was in order to activate response and recovery efforts outlined in relevant disaster and emergency plans at both the local and inter-jurisdictional levels,” Teague said.
Teague emphasized that submitting damage information does not guarantee assistance from local, state, or federal agencies.
“The data collected will be utilized to assess the overall impact on our community and aid local government in determining potential forms of assistance,” he said. “We appreciate your patience and understanding as we continue through our recovery efforts.”
