Admission prices are about to fall at the U.S. Olympic & Paralympic Museum in Colorado Springs.
Beginning next week, the museum at 200 S. Sierra Madre St. is implementing updated seasonal hours and an updated admission pricing structure. Ticket prices will drop between $3 and $6 from their summer rates for various types of visitors throughout the fall and winter.
'A wonderful treasure': Team USA athletes mark 5th anniversary of Olympic Museum
The museum, which celebrated its fifth anniversary on July 30, said in a Tuesday news release the updated hours and pricing options will “make it easier and more affordable to enjoy a world-class destination celebrating the Olympic and Paralympic spirit.”
Starting Monday, the museum will be open five days a week, Thursday through Monday from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.
“Peak Days” for visitation are Friday, Saturday and Sunday. “Value Days, “when admission is cheaper than on Peak Days, are Monday and Thursday.
Updated fall and winter pricing for Peak Days is: $23.95 for adults (ages 13 and older), $13.95 for youths (ages 5-12) and free for children ages 4 and younger.
Admission on Value Days is $21.95 for adults, $12.95 for youths and free for children ages 4 and younger.
Discounts are available for college students, seniors, military, first responders, educators and health care workers who present a valid ID. Visit the museum website at usopm.org/plan-your-visit/tickets-and-admission for a full list of ticket prices and to buy tickets.
Group rates for parties of 12 people or more are available. Contact groupsales@usopm.org for more information.
The museum introduced this ticketing model last year, part of “ongoing efforts to make the museum more accessible and to grow visitation,” spokesman Tommy Schield said in an email.
Olympic museum struggles to meet projected attendance, grapples with falling revenues 5 years on
Since it opened amid the COVID-19 pandemic in July 2020, the museum has struggled with attendance levels that have not reached original projections of 350,000 visitors a year.
Promoting the distinctive attraction and drawing more guests, including repeat visitors from across Colorado, are among museum CEO Marisa Wigglesworth’s goals. Over the next few years, she wants to increase annual visitation from 83,582 guests in 2024 up to 120,000 annually, Wigglesworth said last month.
The museum is also reintroducing for the third year its Colorado Resident Offer on Sept. 13. Coloradans will receive exclusive $10 admission on Saturdays after 3 p.m. with a valid ID. Residents can also bring out-of-state guests, who will receive a 20% discount on their admission.
The offer runs through May 23. Tickets can be purchased online or at the museum.
Additionally, the museum participates in the Pikes Peak Library District’s Culture Pass program, allowing library cardholders to check out museum tickets free, Schield said.
